Happy Halloween!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! So in honor of Halloween being on Friday I found this video of Vans employees having fun. For me this video shows and proves that not every work place needs to be uptight and have no fun. Showing employees that they can have a relaxed day at the work place and be yourself is one of the ways to actually have a successful business. It proves to your employees that you actually care about them and want them to enjoy the holiday as much as you do.

What is essential in becoming a successful retail franchise owner?
  • A successful franchise owner should always know what the ideal customer is looking for
  • Knowing where a good location is to set up shop

3.  What is the most important source you have used that has helped you come up with an answer to your working EQ?

4.  Who is your mentor, or where are you doing mentorship, and how does what you are doing relate to your working EQ?

  • My mentor is Amy Mariani and I am doing my mentorship at Vans. What I am doing relates to my working EQ because Vans is a very successful franchise that has been around since 1966 and is still currently a very popular store.

  1. Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
I plan on doing more mentorship with my mentor. So I plan on continuing what it is that I am doing right now, which is helping with sales and figuring out how much money should be spent when ordering more supplies.

2.  Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.

I plan on taking photographs of picking up shipment, and the budgeting that I help with.

3.  And explain how what you will be doing will help you explore your topic in more depth.

This will help me explore my topic more simply by me shadowing and observing as well as helping here and there in this business. I'm already learning that it actually takes a lot just to manage even this small business, so many different number figures and so many meetings that my mentor is constantly in and out of. I've learned that it will take hard work and determination to really go far in this career.

4.  Update your Senior Project Hours log.

Check my hours log on the side link. Titles Senior Project Hours Log.

House of Vans London Launch Party

You know watching this and seeing how far this company has grown is very inspiring. You have a man who lived in Boston and had a dream that he chose to pursue and look at what happened. This man packed up his family and moved all the way from Boston to Orange County, for what? Just to pursue a silly dream that later will let him become a millionaire. This is very inspiring for me because this man, Paul Van Doren, had nothing more than a dream and started out with nothing. But thanks to fellow skaters and movie producers made him into something extraordinary. To say that your company has gone international must be a huge accomplishment, which is why I look up to this man in hopes that one day my dreams will become as true as his were.

1.Describe your experience in how you found your mentorship?

I haven't found a mentor yet, but in my search for one I have actually called and submitted emails to corpate companies such as Vans, O'neil, Quciksilver, Nike, Hurley, Starbucks, Steve Madden, BCBG. I've been able to set up a couple of interviews with Vans, Nike, and O'neil, but those aren't till a couple of weeks. I'm hoping that I can get one of those.

2. What has been the most important article you have read and why?

The most important article that I have actually read is titled "Peers Influence Decision to Become an Entrepreneur". I found it very helpful because it explains how most Entrepreneur get to where they are. It actually states that most have worked with one before they decided to become one themselves.

Since '66

This video actually is what really inspired me to chose my topic. I love it because it explains Paul Van Doren's life on how he started the company and the struggles he went through. Don't know who Paul Van Doren is click here. In this video it talks about the good of the company and how it makes one feel special and very important, and it displays such a welcoming and family environment. Which is awesome because this is exactly how I would want my clientele to feel if they came to my company.
